How does fabric make us see, hear, touch, react - and move?
Ahead of the launch of our new craft shop Fold, we have invited internationally renowned choreographer Elisabeth Schilling to perform a contemplative and visually stimulating piece inspired by her exploration of textures and materials.
Felt is an art installation and performance influenced by touch, and rendered by movement, music and shape. It is a multi-sensory work, where a sculpture becomes an amorphous creature-like structure - appearing almost as an inhabited being. As the dancer moves, skin and cloth transform, materials and textures fuse together to reveal a cascade of moving landscapes and flowing lines.
Music and movement work in collaboration in this intimate work, as the audience are invited to move around the Barn to come closer, view and interact with the fabric.
Felt is a highly interactive performance, and we have included a baby matinee so carers and little ones alike can enjoy the experience. Children are invited to stay and play with some elements of the show.
