Elgin Musical Theatre Presents Cole Porters Production of "Anything Goes"
Anything Goes first hit the New York stage back in 1934, although it has been freshened up several times since then.
Most of the action takes place on the luxury liner S.S. American as she steams across the Atlantic from New York to London. Aboard are a wonderful collection of characters, from Reno Sweeney, evangelist turned nightclub singer to the hapless gangster "Moonface" Martin, public enemy number 13, from stowaway Billy Crocket to Hope Harcourt, the sophisticated debutante he wants to marry - and her foppish finace, Sir Evelyn Oakleigh.
Anything Goes is packed with musical gems from the pen of Cole Porter. Standards such as "I Get A Kick Out of You", "You're The Top" and "It's De-Lovely" sit beside show-stopping numbers like "Anything Goes and "Blow Gabriel Blow".
Throw into the mixing pot a huge dash of humour, colourful costumes and stunning scenery and we think you have a show worth seeing.
