We're delighted to welcome Ewan Macfarlane to showcase his new Acoustic Album "Dove" (released on May 16th) in our village hall.
Ewan MacFarlane, former frontman Scottish cult band The Grim Northern Social & Apollo 440, has been praised by The Sunday Times for possessing the best rock voice in the UK. After departing Apollo 440 in 2018, he surprised fans by releasing two successful solo albums, drawing inspiration from artists such as Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen. His latest release, Dove, showcases his raw, emotive songwriting in a stripped-back, intimate live sound. Ewan is set to support Dove with a selection of acoustic shows in 2023, and is putting the finishing touches to his fourth studio album in just two years.
The idea behind Dove came from Ewan's previous acoustic gigs, where he discovered that his always emotive songwriting was given an additional emotional resonance as he shared the stories behind the songs. While it's a new record, the songs are all unreleased favourites from his vast back catalogue - but theyre all clearly too strong to be ignored. As a result, Dove showcases a very different side to Ewan's talents, with the record full of raw, soul-searching confessionals and a stripped-back, intimate live sound.
