Shona Mackay is a Glasgow-based interdisciplinary composer. With a keen interest in pushing the boundaries of what it means to be "the composer", particularly in relation to the idea of the non-musical performer, she combines music with other media including video, spoken word and theatre. She often performs in her own work. Her music has been performed by various ensembles including Red Note, the Brodick Quartet, Hebrides Ensemble and the Glasgow School of Art Choir.
Alongside composition, Shona works as a choir leader and teaching artist on numerous arts and education projects across the West of Scotland. She is also a part-time lecturer at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
