After a five-year hiatus, Federation of the Disco Pimp are celebrating their return to Celtic Connections with a blistering live set and an extended line-up. Bigger and tougher than ever, Scotland’s premier exponent of Modern Funk are currently recording their third studio album, Gratuitous, featuring super special guests including funk royalty Fred Wesley (James Brown) and Kenni Holmen (Prince, Cory Wong, Horn Heads). Combining elements of Old-School Funk, Disco, Psychedelic and Jazz, this 7-piece band of Scots are legendary for their endless energy and unstoppable grooves. Providing support is Stephen Henderson’s Modern Vikings. Bringing together five of Scotland’s brightest, most creative jazz talents, drummer Henderson leads an all-star line-up of Konrad Wiszniewski (sax), Fergus McCreadie (piano), David Bowden (bass) and Graeme Stephen (guitar). Together, they create a lively, energetic sound, inspired by Scottish and Scandinavian folk music with a strong emphasis on melody and grooves.
