A part of the Year of Young People Initiative, the aim of the School of Stand-up is for participants to develop a short set of original material to perform at a showcase event that takes place as part of the Glasgow International Comedy Festival 2018. Stand-up comedy is all about self-expression and finding your own voice, so each session focuses on creating your own comedic ideas, gained from your own life experiences. During the School of Stand-up you have the opportunity to develop your ideas and practise performing in front of other participants whilst learning about the craft of stand-up comedy.
The School of Stand-up will help you develop skills to hone your comedic abilities including writing, idea development, performance, public speaking and networking. The showcase performance that takes place at GICF 2018 will provide you with an opportunity to share what you have learned with an audience including family, friend and peers at an official GICF venue.
Following a Co-Design approach, young people are a driving force in shaping, developing and implementing all events for the Year of Young People 2018.
