Scottish folk singer, songwriter and storyteller Iona Lane recently released her debut album Hallival to critical acclaim, reaching number 36 in the Folk Album Charts and airplay across the country including BBC Radio 2.
Iona's music draws from landscapes and the natural world, finding stories in rural locations of mythology, folklore and science and giving them life in contemporary folk. Her new album features a group of talented musicians including Lauren MacColl, Jenny Sturgeon and Rachel Newton.
Iona will be accompanied by Skye's own Malin Lewis - a piper, fiddler and multi-instrumentalist best known for making their own instruments and experimenting with unusual sounds. Their music takes inspiration from folk traditions across Europe as well as Jazz and Improvisation. Malin learned their music on the West Coast of Scotland before studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki.
