Eilidh has never left her island. Every day the same. Same chores, same people, same conversations. She stands on the cliffs and dreams of the Bigland over the sea. Then one day a boy from far away is washed up on the shore – and with him, events that will change her life forever.
“There’s men on my beach. Dark blue uniforms. Almost black. Marching out of the sea from submarines. Chanting. Singing.”
Boldly exploring themes of war, migration and identity, Islander is a play with songs for everyone 8 years and older. Blending dramatic action, epic storytelling and a cappella songs, the performers live-record and layer their voices with looping technology to create a feast for the ears and imagination.
