Be-quiffed teenage pop twins.
Renowned for their live shows, Dublin twins John and Edward Grimes, also known as Jedward, released their double platinum debut album “Planet Jedward” in 2010 and saw the brothers rocket to the No.1 spot in the Irish singles charts and No.2 in the UK with “Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby)” featuring Vanilla Ice.
The duo have gone on to release two further platinum albums to date, “Victory” and “Young Love”. To coincide with the release of “Young Love” John and Edward spent several weeks in LA producing their own music videos to accompany 8 of the album’s tracks as well as appearing on Australian and Canadian national television and radio.
In 2011 John and Edward were chosen by public vote to represent Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf with their infectious hit “Lipstick”. Wowing Europe and the rest of the world with their personalities as well as their performance, the single became the top selling Eurovision single. Proving to be a success the twins were again selected to represent the nation the following year in Azerbaijan with “Waterline”.
Masters of the live show, John and Edward have performed to thousands of fans in hundreds of sold out shows across the globe with tours in Ireland, the UK, Europe, Canada and Australia. As well as perfoming at the Childline Concert in the O2 three years in a row, Jedward joined Westlife as their special guests at their Croke Park concert in 2010 and again in 2012 for their farewell concert. Their stunning visuals, costumes and stage presence has captivated audiences and set them apart from their peers.
Away from music the duo are two of the most in demand television personalities in Ireland and the UK. Shows such as “Jedward Let Loose”, which followed John and Edward as they prepared to release their debut album and “Jedward’s Dream Factory”, which was nominated for two IFTA Awards, have seen impressive ratings in Ireland. In the UK Jedward have also starred in three series of the BBC production “Jedward’s Big Adventure”, the final session of which had its episode run doubled due to astonishing ratings. The pair also proved to be hugely successful on “Celebrity Big Brother UK”.
Further honing their acting talents, John and Edward have starred in their own Christmas pantomime in the Olympia Theatre each year since 2010 with an incredible record breaking 34 consecutive sold out performances each session.
On the occasion of Barack Obama’s visit to Ireland in 2011, John and Edward were given the honour of being invited to perform for the president at College Green. The brothers were also personally asked by the London 2012 Olympic Games Committee to carry the Olympic torch through the streets of their hometown of Dublin. With new material and 4th Album set for release and countless showbiz opportunities, 2016 looks set to be the year of Jedward.
