Iconic trad-fusion band Kíla have teamed up with the Paul Frost Brass ensemble to create a bombastic celebration of Trad and Brass Kíla, are well known for their exhilarating live performances, but Kíla & Brass are even livelier. Paul Frost’s arrangements have fused funk, mambo and New Orleans jazz with Kíla’s own contemorary compositions. This addition to Kíla’s already outstanding repertoire will have listeners electrified by the fusion of the brass band‘s funky blasts and Kíla’s exhilarating rhythmic sound.
Speaking about the collaboration founder member Rossa Ó Snodaigh said… “This album breaks new ground, not only for Kíla but for Trad in general” Brian Hogan, Kíla's bassist said.. “The brass adds this depth and enormity to the sound With a career spanning over five decades, with 20 releases, and collaborations with esteemed musicians such as U2, Ronnie Wood (The Rolling Stones), Sinead O’ Connor, Dubliners, Shane McGowan, Glen Hansard and Donal Lunny. The new album collaboration reflects the imagination, reinvention and the creative genius that Kíla are known for. Recent performances of this material have had audiences enthralled, enchanted and dancing with abandon.
Support comes from Deira, an exciting up-and-coming trio of musicians from Asturias and Andalusia in Spain. The band comprises Salvador Daza (Fiddle), Juan Almaraz (Irish Flute) and Gonzalo Llao (Bouzouki) and were the first non-Scottish act to win Celtic Connection’s prestigious “Battle of the Folk Bands” competition. They released their debut album, Alba, in 2023.
