Lanark Lanimer Day is the highlight of the Royal Burgh of Lanark's week long Lanimer Celebrations held annually June.
The day consists of a spectacular morning procession of over 1,000 individuals on beautifully decorated "Lanimer Lorries" (floats) accompanied by Marching Bands and an Equestrian Procession.
The Lanimer Procession culminates in the crowning of the Lanimer Queen Elect in front of large crowds. Following the Crowning Ceremony and afternoon of entertainment is held in Castlebank Park, full of fun events for all the family.
The day concludes with a declaration by the Royal Burgh's Standard Bearer, the 'Lord Cornet' on the historic status of the towns boundary.
This is closely followed by the spectacle of the "Beating the Retreat", an hour long showpiece of wonderful, stirring music by the massed pipes & drums and brass & silver bands.
Come and join us for a fantastic family day, celebrating one of Scotland's most historic traditions!
