Which Scottish locations offer a particularly strong heritage of story and legend? How can land-connected stories help us understand and relate to the Scottish environment and landscape? Inverness based storyteller Ruairidh Maclean will introduce some of the famous characters of Gaelic legend – Fionn, Oisean, Diarmaid and Deirdre. Ruairidh is a fluent Gaelic-speaker and though the workshop will be in English, Gaelic-speakers and learners are particularly welcome to attend. Ruairidh will also explore how non-Gaelic-speakers can use some Gaelic to enrich the experience and connection to the tradition. Participants will be invited to consider how ancient Celtic stories might be interpreted by modern storytellers, particularly for young people, both in terms of language and content.
