Visit the Studio and Gallery to view an exhibition by local artist Rebecca Scott. This will be an exhibition of new work including the artist's recent collection inspired by Edvard Munch.
Rebecca Scott incorporates printmaking techniques, acrylics, inks, blind drawing and dry media in her artwork. She has exhibited extensively in Scotland and also in the north of England, London and Italy. These exhibitions have included several solo shows. Numerous visual art and illustration commissions for private, public and commercial clients have followed. Her artwork is held in private collections all over the world, from the USA to Thailand.
This new exhibition showcases work from 2022, for the first time, and brings together a collection of drawings, mixed media artworks and monoprints. In terms of subject matter, Rebecca is drawn to found images which stir something in her emotionally and tries to be instinctive in her depiction of the images, changing them as the artwork progresses. The contemplative times when alone and the intensity of love are something that she tries to capture in her art.
"Next month we are showing some of Kilbirnie artist Rebecca Scott's recent drawings. Rebecca has always been exploring different media and styles. She does not stand still, but works intensively in one style till she has sufficiently explored it, then moves on. Her recent work is particularly powerful. Her exhibition, 'Light and Dark: an exhibition of drawings', will open on Saturday the 7th of May at 2.00"
