This event is part of Sharmanka's programme of live performances by local and international musicians, artists and performers.
With his three albums to date, and his live performances by Glasgow based sound artist Paul Baran have involved a continuously shifting cast of collaborators (luminaries such as Keith Rowe, Rhodri Davies, Werner Dafeldecker, Sarah Whiteside, Sylvia Hallett). We're delighted to have Paul open a new year of our live music performance / happenings at Sharmanka in the company of cellist/electronic artist Semay Wu and double bassist Seth Bennett, both of whom have performed at the gallery before.
Paul's work “negotiates the effects of capitalism on people left behind by a global system that often revitalises crisis after crisis” and, as this unfolds amidst Eduard Bersudsky's marvellous mechanical sculptures, it is sure to be an event of quality that you should catch.
