Founded in 2009, Masterworks Chorale, a Leeds-based touring choir draws its members from a wide area and has quickly established a reputation for fresh and distinctive performances, with the aim of providing the finest music in the finest venues. The choir endeavours to present all their concerts in interesting venues accessible to all with the focus always on the audience where they are committed to bringing the enthusiasm, intentions and feelings of their chosen composers into the hearts of the listeners through performance.
During 2019, Masterworks Chorale has performed a series of concerts in partnership with the Churches Conservation trust in the North of England bringing music to their fine redundant churches. In recent years, international tours have taken the choir to Prague, Liechtenstein, Venice, New York, Paris and Belgium where their performances have been met with great acclaim.
Tim Knight – Founder and Choir Director
A previous chorister of York Minster, Tim has held positions with many Northern-based choirs and is presently the Director of Leeds Male Voice Choir and the Heritage singers as well as holding esteemed positions as Principal of the Yorkshire College of Music and Drama and Area Chairman of the Royal School of Church Music for the Ripon and Leeds area. Matthew Lazenby - Organist
Matthew is Director of Horsforth Choral society in Leeds as well as the Director of Music at St Martin's Potternewton in Leeds and has many years' experience in accompanying choirs, particularly church choirs, both on piano and organ. Being a chorister himself, Matthew is in an ideal position to appreciate the requirements of choral accompanying.
