Join Voluntary Arts Scotland and poets from St Mungo’s Mirrorball for a celebration of the everyday creativity taking place in towns and cities across Scotland.
The ‘My Time’ project paired up ten poets with ten voluntary arts groups across Scotland. The poets attended rehearsals, workshops and gatherings, spoke to participants, then wrote about what they saw.
On the day we’ll have readings from the following poets:
Polly Atkin (Aberdeen University Swing Dance Society)
Larry Butler (Ricefield Cultural Centre, Glasgow)
Chik Duncan (Braemar Creative Arts Festival)
Catherine Eunson (E Karika Djal – Romany music band, Glasgow)
Trisha Heaney (Headway – creative writing group for people with brain injuries, Edinburgh)
Mark Russell (Performance Collective Stranraer – youth theatre group)
Stewart Sanderson (The Truly Terrible Orchestra, Inverness)
Rachel Tennant (Thistle Quilters, Edinburgh)
Mary Thomson (Local Vocals dementia-friendly choir, Helensburgh)
Christie Williamson (Shetland Mandolin Band)
We’ll also hear a few works from poets who contributed to the My Time open call, including Max Scratchmann
Please note, Polly Atkin is unable to attend, but her poem will be read out for her.
The ‘My Time’ project is run by Voluntary Arts Scotland in partnership with the Scottish Poetry Library, and is funded by Creative Scotland.
