NATHON JONES & BRUCE MCKENZIE CO-HEADLINE TOUR
Appearing at the same local venues and festivals, recording in the same studio and playing custom guitars from the same craftsman, Nathon Jones and Bruce McKenzie have lots in common. The Gallovidian songwriters also share influences from across the Atlantic and the Irish Sea. But despite more than seven decades of gigging experience between them, theyve never shared a stage until now. A new tour of their home region gives both the chance to share songs and stories crafted in the stolen moments between their respective work and family lives. Nathon has a renewed focus on his own material after a decade as the driving force behind the award winning Trad Music Trust in Newton Stewart. Hailing from a fine Irish family of musicians, his dobro playing has graced recordings and gigs with some of Scotlands best known trad and folk artists, most recently at the world famous Celtic Connections. Bruce has spent more than thirty years fronting wedding and ceilidh bands, whilst writing and occasionally performing his own songs. Now, with a new EP set to be released and an album in the pipeline, hes sharing his take on Galloway life. With songs deeply rooted in coastal Scotland, hes played at the Wickerman and Eden Festivals and opened for the likes of Ivan Drever and Eleanor McEvoy. Performing apart and together, this show sees the duo opening their own songbooks to share different perspectives of Galloway, as well as shared favourites from the world of Americana and Bluegrass.
