The course will be based in the Glencoe area. Girls on Hills will get in touch with the location of the meet point nearer the date. We wish to stress that this is a navigation course and not a hill walking day. For this reason, we will not spend most of the day hiking to a high-level destination (e.g mountain summits). The first part of day one will be an indoor (theoretical) session and the second part will be on the hill. We will focus on putting navigation theory into practice on accessible yet complex ground. This way we hope to cover as much learning as possible in a single day for you.
For anyone booking, we will email them out a brief booking questionnaire. The answers will enable us to plan the course to suit the aspirations/knowledge-gaps of the group.
You will need to be equipped for a day out on the hill with food and drink, appropriate boots/shoes, warm clothes, waterproof jacket and over trousers, warm hat and gloves. We will be moving slowly so you will need plenty of warm layers. You will need to bring your own compass, but laminated maps will be provided.
Anyone travelling to the course is welcome to find their own accommodation, but if you prefer, we have three partners who offer discounted rates to Girls on Hills customers. Please let them know you have made a booking with Girls on Hills when you make contact. Otherwise there is plenty of budget accommodation at local youth hostels/bunkhouses or pods.
