Nichola Martin is an award-winning artist, graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, in 2007. A skilled draughtsman, she prefers to work in charcoal and oils and is highly sought after for paintings requiring a high level of technical detail. As artist in residence for StAnza 2018, Nichola’s inspiration – namely poetry books – was an obvious progression. Incorporating both large scale charcoal drawings and oil paintings Nichola has combined art and poetry for her first solo exhibition in seven years. This exhibition at StAnza 2019 will give the viewer a technical insight through drawing and painting, with subjects ranging from still-life to figurative works.
