One Big Picnic is a free event for the people by the people and is open to the general public. The aim of the event is to bring people together by creating a space for sharing food and a wee blether, sitting next to each other, showing understanding to differences regardless of background, cultural, religious, sexual orientation, social or educational status, homelessness or wealth. Highlighting Glasgow is indeed a city of caring people - people make Glasgow!
The event brings together community projects which prepare and serve free meals/provide food parcels on a regular basis to those in need, such as the elderly, homeless and destitute. We believe that everyone has the right to good accessible food and should be treated fairly and with dignity. Therefore we are serving wonderful dishes from around the world to all.
There are musicians and entertainers throughout the afternoon promising a fun and uplifting atmosphere for all age groups.
