Presenting an exhibition by Glasgow-based artist Peter Thomson RGI RSW, who is known for his figurative and landscape based oil paintings. The exhibition will contain Thomson's most recent works that reflect his organic, creative process of having a known starting point and an unintended destination. Two distinct features of the exhibition are what he loosely terms as "contemporary observations" and a series of homages to admired artists.
Peter Thomson graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1984 with a degree in Drawing and Painting. Inspired by Edward Hopper, Thomson has a surreal take on everyday scenarios and uses thick layered oil paint in his paintings to provide a blurred and feathered glimpse into his imagination. He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the UK, Europe and the USA. Thomson was elected as a member of the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts (RGI) in 2015 and the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour (RSW) in 2016. His work can be found in many national collections such as the Gallery of Modern Art Glasgow, Scottish Arts Council and the Fleming Collection, London.
