Raveloe is the project of multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Kim Grant.
The alias is taken from the name of a fictional village within the pages of a Mary Anne Evans (George Eliot) novel called Silas Marner about a reclusive weaver. Growing up in the small industrial town of Motherwell she found magic and escaped in the small beauties through moments of isolation and difficulty. A thread evident in songs that oscillate from heartbreak to hopefulness, exploring dualities and inspired by magical realism, nature and the human experience.
2021 saw the arrival of her debut self produced EP Notes and Dreams and follow up singles New House and Catkins released on Olive Grove Records which led to features in BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing, The Roddy Hart Show as well as The Clash, Euphoria, For The Rabbits and one of Vic Galloways one to watch in 2022 to name a few.
The album Exit Light (FFO Big Thief, Frightened Rabbit, Waxahatchee) was released on Olive Grove Records in 2023, featured on BBC 6 Music, BBC Scotland Afternoon Show, BBC Scotlands Vic Galloway and Roddy Hart shows respectively, it also made several album of the year lists including those by GodisintheTV, Monorail , Vic Galloway and The Weekender.
Inspired by the likes of Big Thief, PJ Harvey, The Microphones, Jason Molina and This is The Kit you can expect moments of delicate folk inspired reflection to swelling ripples of distortion and energy.
Following her debut UK tour in winter 2023, 2024 started with a Celtic Connections headline show and support tours with Arab Strap, Bernard Butler, Broken Chanter and supporting the likes of Junior Brother, Mui Zyu, Field Music and Katy Kirby.
