How to Get Here
NorthLink Ferries sail between Aberdeen and Kirkwall (taking 7 hours three times per week) or go from Scrabster to Stromness (which operates twice daily with a duration of 90 mins.)
There is also a catamaran operated by Pentland Ferries from Gills Bay, near John O’ Groats to St Margaret’s Hope in South Ronaldsay (sailing twice daily and takes 60 mins.)Take your vehicle or simply walk on.
Fly with Loganair.
Flights are available from Glasgow (60 minutes), Edinburgh (60 minutes), Inverness (45 minutes), Aberdeen (50 minutes) and Shetland (35 minutes); most also have good links to other national and international airports.
Services are operated from Inverness to Thurso and Wick or to Aberdeen from Edinburgh, Glasgow or London. The Caledonian Sleeper service runs from London Euston to Aberdeen or Inverness 6 days a week.
