The HandleBards are proud to present their first ever all-female troupe! After cycling 1,000 miles from London to Edinburgh, the four-strong troupe present Shakespeare's play as you've never seen it before – fast-paced, irreverent and bicycle powered. Since 2013, the HandleBards have pedalled over 5,000 miles across the world, carrying their set, props and costumes on just four bicycles. Bring a picnic, bring some friends and join us in the beautiful botanic garden for an evening that promises to be 'gloriously eccentric and very, very funny' (Stage, on A Midsummer Night's Dream).
Romeo and Juliet
'What's in a name? That which we call a rose, by any other name would smell as sweet.' Shakespeare sets his classic story of fragile young love against the backdrop of a deep-seated family feud: Romeo loves Juliet, Juliet loves Romeo, but Romeo's family hates Juliet's family, and Juliet's family hates Romeo's family. Tragic. The HandleBards present riotously funny all-female Shakespeare.
