When Sir James MacMillan composes, the world pays attention. ‘We need this music right now,’ wrote one critic after the world premiere of his new Christmas Oratorio in January 2021, and this epic work is more than just a joyous choral celebration of the Festive Season. It’s a feast for the heart and soul; a regular banquet of mystery, passion and white-hot imaginative fire. It’s the perfect showcase for the RSNO Chorus as they celebrate 180 years. ‘Beauty is at the heart of our Christian faith,’ says MacMillan, and the man himself brings it home to Scotland tonight.
In memory of John Mather.
