Award winning Concert pianist Santa Ignace began her piano studies at the age of six, with her father as her first teacher. She was inspired by his mastery, and unique interpretations of a wide repertoire of jazz, including all the classics. This virtuosic and brilliantly creative introduction to music undoubtedly influenced her approach to the formal study and interpretation. Carefully and intentionally Santa has combined her early jazz influences with thirty years of intense study and competition in the field of Classical and Romantic music, to develop her unique interpretations of the most challenging pieces by Rachmaninov, Liszt, Chopin, Scriabin, Godowski and others. She has presented these works with great success in recitals and performances at various venues in Latvia, Ireland, France, England and The Netherlands.
As well as performing solo and with chamber music ensembles, an important part of her inspiration and motivation, to date, was achieved while preparing for and competing in several national and international competitions: Winner of Mabel Swainson Pianoforte Award, ESB Feis Ceoil, Ireland; Semifinalist “Giorgos Thymis” International Piano Competition. Thessaloniki, Greece; Semifinalist of the “A.M.A. Calabria” International Piano Competition, Italy; Winner of “The Capuchin Order Perpetual Cup and Bursary”, Feis Maitiu Corcaigh, Ireland; Winner of Concours Musical de France (Prix CMF), International Piano Competition, Paris, France; Winner of the “Chamber ensemble of the Year” Latvia; Winner of the “Young Pianist of the Year”, Latvia; Winner of Piano Accompanist Competition, Latvia.
Recently, she has also featured in a short film “A Musical Moment” in collaboration with London based film director Rudolfs Mikelsons.
The Programme for Merchant's House of Glasgow will include Chopin Complete Set of Ballades ad Liszt Mephisto Waltz.
