In partnership with The Nature Library, this free event brings together an electrifying theatrical performance, street procession and a book launch.
The ‘Scales of the World’ event, which has been created by artist Alex Rigg and his colourful and captivating dance-theatre company Oceanallover, invites everyone to explore reality and their place in the world through an allegorical tale told through music, dance, costume, prose and poetry
The event is also a celebration of the launch of a limited edition handbound book, written by Alex Rigg and bound by Gillian Stewart of Juju Books.
Everyone is invited to meet at The Nature Library at 122B Montgomery Street, Irvine, at 2pm on Saturday 12 July.
From there, there will be a short procession to the nearby Museum with street performance along the way.
The ‘Scales of the World’ performance, which will take place at the Museum around 2.30pm, is led by a mythical, reptilian being who invites the audience to travel on a journey of reinvention and transcendence across four environments: riverbank, hot-air balloon, underground chamber and flooded world.
When the performance concludes at 3.30pm, guests are invited to return to The Nature Library for a talk on the new, limited edition handbound book written by Alex Rigg of Oceanallover and bound by Gillian Stewart of Juju Books, or enjoy the wider Museum with a discounted admission of 50% off the regular ticket price.
This free event suits all ages and booking is not required.
