The young French pianist Bertrand Chamayou, described by The Guardian as "a force to be reckoned with", brings his striking assurance to Ravel's Piano Concerto in G.
The first half of this exciting concert sees each of Ginastera’s 12 Variaciones put different orchestral players from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra in the spotlight, creating a kaleidoscopic spectacular.
Bertrand Chamayou then takes to the stage for Ravel’s jazzy concerto, a piece of music that clearly displays Ravel's love of 1920s jazz mixed with his own European heritage. A sparky and dazzlingly virtuoso, Chamayou also displays thoughtfulness and sensitivity while he plays.
After such a high-octane first half, conductor Josep Pons closes the evening with Beethoven’s lustrous Fourth Symphony.
