Colourful costumes plucked from the most gorgeous chocolate box; Tchaikovsky’s iconic music to transport you to a land of dreams; and a story lifted straight from the pages of a classical fairy tale – Scottish Ballet returns this Christmas with Peter Darrell’s The Nutcracker.
This winter, experience a wonderful Christmas adventure and transport the whole family into the world of the Nutcracker Prince and Sugar Plum Fairy. Follow the story of a little girl called Clara as she drifts off to sleep on Christmas Eve. She meets her Prince, is confronted by a battle of larger-than-life mice, and is whisked off by Polar bears into a luscious land of sweets – it even snows on stage!
Accompanied by the Scottish Ballet Orchestra, this is classical ballet at its most plush and sumptuous. Devised in 1973 by Scottish Ballet’s founding artistic director Peter Darrell, The Nutcracker was revived to widespread acclaim in 2014 and returns this Winter.
