Scottish Opera: The Verdi Collection
The Verdi Collection celebrates some of the operatic canon’s best
known and loved melodies and stories.
Presented as a gala concert to capture the breadth of Verdi’s
output, led by the power and passion of The Orchestra of Scottish
Opera under the baton of Stuart Stratford, The Verdi Collection
features the romance of La traviata, the intrigue of Un ballo in
maschera, the passion of La forza del destino, the stately tragedy of
Don Carlo, and the domestic tragedy of Otello.
Giuseppe Verdi’s prolific output was marked by many styles, themes,
and stories in a career that spanned over 50 years. At the heart of
all are instantly recognisable characters (noble heroes and dastardly
villains alike), nuanced relationships between lovers and families,
and melodies that transcend time.
Scottish Opera is delighted to present a selection of Italian
opera’s greatest hits with a small cast of singers bringing numerous
roles to life in a single evening, guaranteeing a great night out.
