Packed with brilliant moments, the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival brings together boats, crafts, music, food and drink to celebrate the north east region’s rich maritime and cultural heritage.
Admire boats from through the years as they gather across two historic harbours in Portsoy. Chat to the visiting crews who will regale you with their seafaring tales and then cheer them on as they take part in competitive sailing on the open sea. Try paddling a coracle across the harbour, or challenge teams in our adrenalin fuelled fun raft race.
Learn about traditional maritime skills, including woodworking, rope making and sail making and maybe try it yourself too. Admire a host of skilled crafters as they carve, weave, knit and sculpt wonderful creations.
Be entertained by a full programme of music, song and dance across the many stages and streets of the festival. Enjoy the melodies as you also breathe in the aromas of fresh cooked fish, seafoods and an array of other fine produce, which may prove too tempting to resist!
Join in an authentic Viking torch-lit procession through the streets of Portsoy and watch the grand finale boat burning by the shore.
