The Brizz
Originating as a side project of Edinburgh’s Orkestra Del Sol, The Brizz developed from a shared love of Brazilian Forro music. A style of music and dance from North-Eastern Brazil, Forro (pronounced Fo’Ho) combines tight percussion grooves with accordion, fiddle and call and answer vocals. The Brizz have been cultivating their sound for over 15 years, mixing in Samba, Cajun, and Scottish influences to produce an uplifting live show that is guaranteed to get the crowd singing and dancing along.
So, get your dancing shoes on and come out for a good ol’ hoedown with your knees up!
“The Brizz brings together the exotic spice of Brazillian Forro music with the fun and energy of Scottish Trad for a unique experience enjoyed by listener’s and dancers alike.
Highly recommended!” Chris Astrojazz, DJ and programmer Kelburn Garden party
“Great gig from the Brizz as always. Really uplifting and fun and loads of people dancing. My head is now filled with their catchy Brazilian Tunes.” Robin Carter, Borra Forro (Forro dance club) Edinburgh.
“……though the instrumentation of fiddles, accordion and percussion is similar to traditional Scottish, when used by The Brizz to play African influenced Rhythms along with songs in Brazilian Portuguese, they make it feel positively tropical. Just the kind of sunshine you need on a dreich day!”
Katch Holmes, Knockengorroch Festival.
