Shawn Colvin is the recipient of the Americana Music Association’s 2016 Lifetime Achievement Trailblazer Award, a deservedly honoured commendation for her role in paving the way for other category-resistant female artists, blurring the lines between pop, folk, country and adult-contemporary sounds. Presenting the prize, Bonnie Raitt called her, “simply one of the best singers I’ve ever heard - and a truly gifted and deep songwriter and guitarist.”
Colvin’s watershed release was the platinum-selling A Few Small Repairs, containing the double Grammy-winning cut ‘Sunny Came Home,’ and she is celebrating the 20th anniversary of that breakthrough with the re-release of a newly-expanded edition. A break-up record on one level, it highlights the universal dimensions of Colvin’s confessional lyrics, together with her gift for melody and mastery of diverse styles.
She’s joined in performing the album in its entirety - plus other fan favourites and a few surprises - by a full band, together with acclaimed husband-and-wife duo Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams, who’ll also open the show.
