Shetland Boat Week celebrates Shetland’s rich maritime heritage by encouraging both local people and visitors to the islands to interact with boats of all kinds both on and off the
Shetland Boat Week 2020 is bigger and better than ever and will include a variety of land-based activities with a maritime theme along with opportunities to indulge in the best of local seafood. Most important however are the boats and as well as a static display featuring a wide variety of traditional Shetland Clinker built vessels there will be the chance to experience
these vessels in their natural element. The main purpose of boat week is to get boats on the water and to get people into boats. From the smallest of dinghies that children can row in the protected waters of the dock to sailing on board the restored herring drifter “The Swan”.
There is something for everyone at Shetland Boat Week and whether they are an experienced sailor or an absolute novice the visitor will find an activity to suit their taste and ability.
