Short Sharp Stories is a programme of literary events, workshops and writers’ residencies in Arbroath launching the New Scriptorium in Arbroath Abbey. From the historic whisper of medieval publication to the cacophony of contemporary communication, this programme will inspire new writing for Arbroath and Angus as part of Scotland’s Year of Stories.
Over two years writers will be commissioned to write short stories, using the social, political and cultural histories of Arbroath Abbey, and the intertwined complex story of the written word, as inspiration.
Join a different writer or illustrator each month for a bookmaking, writing or illustration workshop, held in the New Scriptorium – a new public artwork by Bobby Niven sited in the grounds of Arbroath Abbey.
These workshops will be followed by readings of the writers’ new stories from 5-6pm. The workshops and storytelling sessions can be booked separately.
Tickets are free and will be available to book on Hospitalfield’s website soon along with more information about the workshops.
