Sonnets are ‘little songs’. Become a sonneteer to your Muses, creating devotional objects to energise, celebrate, honour and invoke power.
Sonnets for the Muse is a new, day-long workshop in Edinburgh - led by Scottish poet and writer Rebecca Sharp, with practicing witch, writer, artist and activist Amanda Yates Garcia (the Oracle of LA). They will help you take these traditional forms into radical embodied invocations to revitalise your creative and spiritual practices.
Taking place at the Arthur Conan Doyle Centre, we will collaborate with the ecology and other spirits of place to investigate cultural, elemental, mythological and magical relationships as they interact on both the personal and collective realms.
By cultivating a sense of belonging, and dialoguing with the ecological and imaginal worlds, we will build tools to pull together through these times of profound and urgent change.
Join us to energetically declutter, access the voice/s of inspiration and create pathways for future work.
In the Sonnets for the Muse workshop you will:
practice this historical poetic form (no experience necessary, beginners welcome!);
generate new strategies for these enduring vessels of the imagination;
collaborate, heal and celebrate the past that still lives inside of us; using it to seed vibrant, Venusian futures;
dispel creative blocks;
reclaim joy in our practice;
access our full voice.
Participants will leave the workshop with their own original sonnet, and a finely crafted bespoke ritual designed to invoke clarity, courage, and creative fire.
