Sound Mind Sessions: Matthew Falloon and Mischa Bray live, Saturday 5th October 7pm, All Saints Church, Kenton
Following the tremendous success of the first two Sound Mind Sessions concerts, which funded eight places on Mental Health First Aid courses, we are delighted to announce our third concert which will be held on Saturday 5th October at 7pm at the stunning mediaeval All Saints Church, Kenton near Exeter. Sound Mind Sessions is a joint venture between Devon new music promoter, Pik Rawlings, and Exmouth-based singer-songwriter, Pete Falloon, providing spine-tingling original live acoustic music in beautiful Devon venues, while raising awareness and funds for Mental Health issued in the creative industries. The show will be headlined by a brilliant duo, Matthew Falloon & Mischa Bray.
R2 magazine has described Matthew Falloon's songwriting as "exceptional" and "breathtakingly beautiful", while Uncut compares his music to Jackson Browne and Paul Simon. The former Smoke Feathers singer has found fans among 6Music's Chris Hawkins, Robert Elms and Janice Long. He has toured with the Arts Council-funded Songmakers' Project as part of Brothers Falloon, and cut his teeth on the folk circuit across the UK and Europe alongside contemporaries such as Blue Rose Code and Charlene Soraia. He also plays mandolin, bass and pedal steel for the UK bluegrass collective the Orange Circus Band. His album Do No Harm is out now.
Mischa Bray is the virtuoso violinist, guitarist and mandolin player at the beating heart of the raucous Orange Circus Band and pioneering UK prog folk act Son of Kirk. Record Collector magazine describes his violin playing as "transcendant". A talented songwriter, in-demand arranger and electric performer, Mischa has toured Europe and played on various productions and soundtracks.
Supporting are two fantastic and unique acts strongly championed by BBC Introducing, Matthew Gordon-Price and Jamie Yost.
Matthew Gordon Price is an alternative folk musician who provides an emotional narrative, with an honest and heartfelt performance, hinting at comparisons to Damien Rice, Marcus Mumford and Glenn Hansard. Matthew's second EP 'Rivalry' was his first physical record, released on 30th March 2018.
Known for his atmospheric highs and soulful grit, Plymouth's Jamie Yost blends his own take on poetic lyricism and introspective songwriting, with comparisons to Daughter, Bon Iver and Matt Corby. In 2017, Jamie released his debut EP 'Aurora', and has toured touring supporting the likes of the legendary Martha Reeves, country duo Ward Thomas and Brit award nominee Beth Rowley.
