They are the Snare! And they are back!
Though to be fair, they have never gone away but 2022 will bring two very special Spare Snare shows to give a rare chance to hear a new album in progress.
Back in 2018 Spare Snare were able to secure the services of Steve Albini to produce an album, Sounds, which saw the band revisit some of the songs from their extensive back catalogue. The results were astonishing and the album was critically lauded and led to fantastic reviews and a series of gigs across the U.K. wowing old fans and winning new ones along the way.
Fast forward to 2022 and this October will see the band returning to the studio with Steve Albini to record a brand new set of songs for an album, number 12 if I am counting correctly, excluding compilations. Prior to entering the studio the band have booked a couple of exclusive, intimate events to showcase the new record. This will be a unique chance to hear the new album way in advance of the release and even the recording. A rare treat in our humble opinion
Tickets for this show are extremely limited and are £12.00 plus booking fee.
Support to be confirmed.
Sounds was recorded, mixed and pressed all in a matter of days; an exercise in what can be achieved despite potential constraints. The album manages to capture the uniquely Scottish sensibility of brief confidence, or gallousness, with an underlying self-deprecating streak. It is both the perfect introduction and retrospective to a band of real cultural significance.
