The Anniversary Games will celebrate both Special Olympics GB's 40th birthday and also the 50th birthday of the worldwide Special Olympics global movement.
The Games will welcome c.1,200 athletes, 400 coaches & officials, 500 volunteers and attract c. 5,000 family members and spectators to the event from across the UK and Europe. A primary focus of the Games is Play Unified to promote lasting relationships between disabled and non-disabled people through joint participation on and off the field of play. in the Year of Young People 2018, the “Be bold, be kind, be awesome!” campaign will help challenge young people’s perceptions and attitudes towards young people with intellectual (learning) disabilities, creating a more unified next generation.
Sports will include Boccia, Badminton, Table Tennis, Football, Swimming, Athletics, Cycling, Golf, Indoor Rink Bowls and MATP.
