Ah, how we love it when the stars align and things fall into place at The Cool Cat Club. Spinning Coin have been a band that we've being dying to have come and play for us since hearing the early singles and witnessing some amazing live shows. And now, we can announce that Spinning Coin will indeed make their Dundee debut next Spring.
The Glasgow based quartet (who hail from parts of the world as far apart as Alloa and Toronto) of Sean Armstrong, Jack Mellin, Rachel Taylor and Chris White signed to Domino imprint Geographic and released their debut album, Permo in 2017. Produced by Edwyn Collins it showcased the bands dynamic sound, gorgeous songwriting and keen ear for a great melody and received great acclaim. Writing about them in 2017 The Skinny described Spinning Coin as being 'on the verge of joining the pantheon of Glasgow guitar bands. Stylistically, they very much follow in the hallowed footsteps of the likes of The Pastels, Orange Juice and The Vaselines the guitars flit between noisy and melodic, the vocals are unvarnished, and the songs in general zip along with irresistible fizz and crackle.' Spinning Coin toured with bands such as Teenage Fanclub and Real Estate and toured across the U.K., Europe and the U.S.A.
They have returned with a new single, co-produced by Stephen Pastel and Gregor Reid. Described by the band as a 'celebration of the cosmos, and its infinite, ever-changing nature', 'Visions Of The Stars' is a beautiful, melodic song that stands up on its own but also whets the appetite for a long awaited second album.
Supports to be announced.
