We expect this to be educational and a lot of fun. North Hop is driven by a passion for great food and drink, the excitement of trying something new, the adventure in collaboration and a love for Scotland. It will be an awesome experience to photograph and we’re delighted to be working with the North Hop Team to bring this exclusive photography tour to you. Check out the North Hop Festival page to see just what you can expect at the event. You’ll have the chance to photograph the folk behind the products (brewers, distillers, food vendors etc) and live music from up and coming Scottish music acts and DJs as well as the festival-goers themselves. An indoor festival has unique set ups showcasing the best Scotland has to offer under one roof without all the drawbacks of an outdoor festival – no rain and no wellies!
During the tour you will take part in 3 photography workshops: we’ll kick off with a short nuts and bolts session to get your camera set and ready to go, we’ll discuss light and composition; the main workshops cover; event photography, music photography, and documentary photography.
This Tour is limited to 15 places and you will work in groups of 5 with 3 photographers to ensure the opportunity for one-to-one tuition. Working in small groups is a great way to improve your photography skills, not only do you learn, you also get the chance to compare, share and get inspiration from others.
Over 3 and a half hours you will have the opportunity to learn and practice your photography, mix with others who have an interest in photography, get inspiration and share experiences. The last hour you can enjoy the festival and/or take more photos, and we will be on hand to offer advice. We strongly suggest leaving the samplings on offer until after the workshops!
While the tour is suitable for all skills levels and all cameras from smartphones to DSLR if you have the ability to adjust your aperture, ISO and White Balance you will get more from these workshops. Smartphone users should consider getting one of the great Camera Apps available for around £2-3 and familiarise themselves with it before the Festival. Check out MOMENTS for Apple & Android. Don’t worry if you don’t know a thing about aperture, ISO and White Balance – we’ll cover that and it’s not all technical/geeky stuff, we make learning simple and don’t use a lot of jargon, promise!
You will take away a Tour Booklet with reminders on each of the sessions and exercises for you to try later to continue to improve your photography.
