Thousands of visitors from around the globe celebrate Scotland’s national drink at one of the world’s biggest whisky events - the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival. The Speyside region is home to some of the biggest names in Scotch whisky, and the Festival is a five-day celebration comprising more than 500 different events.
The programme has a wide range of different activities for aficionados and novices alike, including exclusive behind-the-scenes distillery tours, tastings of rare and vintage whiskies and the chance to meet the people behind the production of some of the world’s leading brands. Many distilleries which are not usually open to the public are also welcoming visitors and sharing their secrets during the Festival.
As Speyside is Scotland’s most prolific whisky producing region with over 50 distilleries - more than half of all distilleries in the country - there is a huge focus on the water of life, however, there is plenty to do for non-whisky drinkers. With music, food, comedy, heritage and outdoor activities, it is possible to visit the Festival without touching a drop.
