If you're not sure of which one of our courses to try, this session explains the main types of etching, relief printing, screen printing and photography. Try some of the simpler stages of a couple of these, and leave with a small portfolio of your own prints.
What will be covered?
A variety of print processes such as linocut, etching, photography and lithography will be demonstrated. Participants will be able to try some of the simpler stages and produce prints. The idea is to give a flavour of how our courses and workshops feel and show the sort of results that could be achieved. Processes such as screen-print, which are not demonstrated, will be presented as sample prints and described verbally. A wide range of artist’s prints will be on display.
What should I bring?
We provide everything you'll need, just bring yourself!
What should I wear?
Wear old clothes, just in case, as the inks used may not wash out of clothes. Please note no sandals or open-toed footwear in the Print Studio. We'll provide aprons and vinyl gloves.
What should I expect?
14:00 Welcome and introduction, tour of the studio, Emergency exits and procedures.
14:10 Participants will divide into groups, which will then rotate between three or four tutors in different areas of the studio. Each group will therefore have an opportunity to see and try at least three processes.
There will be short breaks between each area.
Prints produced can be taken away at the end of the day, or collected later if not dry. Tutors will be on hand to answer any questions about classes, equipment and joining the print studio.
Please ensure you have read our Print Studio Terms and Conditions before booking on to any of our Print Studio courses or workshops.
