The ArrivalPlease Note: This performance takes place at Scottish Youth Theatre, 105 Brunswick Street, Glasgow G1 1TF.
The Arrival is a funny, wildly imaginative and welcoming show, inspired by the award-winning graphic novel by Shaun Tan.
A man journeys to start life in a bewildering new city. It’s a land of strange customs, peculiar animals and weird vegetables. He doesn’t speak the language; he can’t read the maps or signs. He is helped along the way by sympathetic strangers, each with their own story: stories from our past and present, stories of survival and hope.
The performance embraces both English and British Sign Language (BSL) alongside visual and physical theatre, music and puppetry. We want to tell this story in a way that works for both deaf and hearing audiences, and those with English as an Additional Language. Aimed at young people and adults, it’s suitable for anyone 11 and over. All we ask you to bring is your imagination!
