with The Gordon Duncan Experience
A weel-kent face and a greatly in-demand flute and keyboard player on the Scottish folk scene with a huge number of artists, Hamish Napier stepped into the spotlight in 2016 with his wonderful album The River, inspired by his upbringing beside the Spey. It earned fantastic reviews and earned him nominations for both Album and Composer of the year at the prestigious Scots Trad Awards.
As well as performing music from The River, Hamish and his hugely talented band will be working with our own big youth music ensemble, The Gordon Duncan Experience in a series of workshops to prepare a one-off opening set for the concert.

'the playing is exceptional, and every piece is a moving experience, but the whole is so broad and sweeping that it's impossible to encompass in a single view... a stroke of genius' The Living Tradition
'intriguing and exciting... a beautifully personal history of the artist’s favourite place' Songlines
'scintillating... brilliantly vivid' The Scotsman
'top class... capturing the emotions and atmospheres of his Speyside inspiration' The Herald
