The launch event takes place in May (exact dates tbc) and includes gaming and film screenings. State of the art Virtual Reality is on show alongside Spyquest events and retro gaming consoles.
A young people’s centred exhibition programme provides the backdrop for the event and includes Bricktropolis (a Lego exhibition) and Michael Morpurgo (children’s author who wrote War Horse). Both exhibitions have their Scottish premiers as part of the festival.
Competitions in film making, digital art and writing will take place from the launch in May until November, when award ceremonies and celebratory events take place with the winning entries going on display.
Following a Co-Design approach, young people are a driving force in shaping, developing and implementing all events for the Year of Young People 2018.
