The instructor is Steven Scott, a 45+ year veteran of the martial arts who hold the ranks of 3rd Dan Shukokai Karate, 6th Dan Aikido, and who is one of a handful of UK based instructors recognised and registered instructor in Norwegian Laustak and student of Master Tyr Neilson from c

This event is being run by the West of Scotland Laustak Academy, a member of the UK Laustak Federation, members of and affiliated to both the Norwegian Laustak Federation and Academiet for Viking Kampkunst.
Special guest instructors for this event will beSaorsa Swords [https://www.saorsaswords.co.uk/] who will be also be demonstrating and teaching fundamentals of Scottish traditional sword work.
The course is being held at the prestigious venue of Cluarankwai Judo Club [http://www.kilmarnockjudoclub.com] dojo in Kilmarnock and will cover the fundamental techniques of both the Sport and Combat / self-defence aspects of Laustak. Sport Laustak Training will cover the rules and regulations of the sport, as well as white-belt (entry-level) level elements of postures, throws, and groundwork as well as the permissible strikes and pain techniques used for tactical advantage in a Laustak match. Additional techniques for higher-level participation will also be covered.
Combat Laustak training will include the extension of .the sport techniques into movements of practicable self-defence application, also including the introduction of Laustak strikes, kicks, joint manipulations, and the basic use of traditional weapons such as daggers, swords, spears, etc.
Experienced martial artists, grapplers, or wrestlers with over 5 years training in their chosen field of study may also be eligible to undertake the entry-level instructors training and examination throughout the weekend and join our growing family of registered instructors in Laustak throughout the UK.
