THE LITTLE UNSAID
The County Hotel
1-5 High Street
Selkirk, Scottish Borders TD7 4BZ
The Little Unsaid is the brainchild of West Yorkshire multi-instrumentalist, producer, poet and songwriter, John Elliott. Initially a solo project, The Little Unsaid is now a growing community of touring musicians and producers, blending folk, electronica, orchestral music, and meticulous songwriting with John’s ethereal vocals.
The Little Unsaid release a new album ‘Atomise’ for Reveal Records (home of Lau, Joan As Police Woman, Eddi Reader and more) in 2018. Fronted by songwriter John, they are a band with an original sound that doesn’t fit into any boxes and an international outlook. The Little Unsaid have spent the last year touring Europe, leaving audiences emotionally rapt with a live show that’s been described as ‘a thumping depth of passion’. Their genre-hopping sound is all their own but echoes the intensity and melancholic overtones of greats such as Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen.
2017’s critically-acclaimed ‘Imagined Hymns & Chaingang Mantras’ album was recorded with Radiohead engineer and film score producer Graeme Stewart. The Little Unsaid embrace elements of rock, folk, electronica, jazz and alt-pop. One of the UK’s must-see rising live acts and recent winners of the Steve Reid award for Innovation.
“Entrancing… songwriting of a real rich quality, all held together by an intensity of approach, by a focus on the emotional weight music can carry.” (CLASH)
”Extraordinary music. This is an amazing act.” (BOB HARRIS, BBC RADIO 2)
“A brave and often brilliant collection.” (R2 MAGAZINE, on Selected Works)
“Great art can often come from the darkest places, and it shouldn’t be forgotten when listening to The Little Unsaid that many of these songs were born out of very real human experience.” (FOLKRADIO.UK)
“An accomplished & musically effective band & each member visibly puts their whole selves into every moment they’re on stage. There’s a palpable passion, commitment and shared joy in the music that maintains a freshness, song by song.” (LIVE REVIEW)
“These are total performers – fresh, vigorous and rendering each song as though they’d gleefully discovered it for the firs time. These are musical craftspeople, creatively pushing the potential in every song and committed to giving it everything they’ve got.” (LIVE at Northorpe Hall)
“..... very strong musicianship, quality songs, thoughtful, genre spanning arrangements, and a strong stage presence.... ” (Lichfield Arts)
