St Andrews will host The Senior Open presented by Rolex for the first time in the event’s 32-year history this summer, as many of the game’s greatest players make a nostalgic return to the Home of Golf.
The Old Course will become the Home of Great Rivalries from July 26-29 as the legends of yesteryear re-live past glories in a setting which has delivered many exhilarating showdowns and epic confrontations.
Sir Nick Faldo and John Daly will return in search of a Senior Claret Jug to add to the gleaming silverware they won at St Andrews as Open Champions in 1990 and 1995 respectively. The great Tom Watson and defending champion Bernhard Langer will be back in town, aiming to succeed where they just missed out to the late Seve Ballesteros in The Open of 1984.
These golfing giants are joined by many other Open Champions such as Sandy Lyle, Tom Lehman, Mark Calcavecchia, Mark O’Meara and Todd Hamilton along with Spanish conquistadors Jos Maria Olazábal and Miguel Angel Jiménez and Scotland’s own Colin Montgomerie and Sam Torrance.
It promises to be an occasion to relish, not just for the players as they re-live wonderful memories of the past at St Andrews, but for the galleries who can wallow in the nostalgia of the moment.
Under-16s go free accompanied by an adult. Parking is also free.
