As part of the Audacious Women Festival, This River new film based on Laura Steckler's poem of the same name. This River incorporates movement, text and stunning visuals to investigate the intimate joys and sorrows of reaching that ever-nearing stage of life. Depicting a poignant and uplifting journey of ageing, Steckler presents her courageous piece derived from her personal relationships with dance and disability. Showcasing a beautiful and hopeful performance that explores the acceptance of the challenges of aging with humour and pathos, Steckler draws from her mature age, her work as a somatic psychotherapist, and her hidden disabilities to take audiences on an intimate journey with her. This River is in collaboration with film-maker Ruth Barrie and in association with the Audacious Women Festival, and is supported by Creative Scotland and DanceBase. Following the screening will be an audience discussion led by Debbie Allan.
